Intellectual Giftedness/Twice Exceptional
It is often assumed that intellectual giftedness automatically sets your child or adolescent on the path for success. At Equip, we understand this is not always the case. Although the gifted child can shine in many ways, there can be unique struggles and considerations for educational planning, social development, and emotional well-being.
Some gifted children and adolescents have additional learning or developmental differences such as dyslexia, ADHD, or autism spectrum disorder. This is commonly referred to as "twice-exceptional" or "2e." Identification and planning for twice-exceptional students can be challenging, as their gifts and disabilities often mask one another, go unrecognized, or are misdiagnosed. We understand this and strive for the most appropriate planning based on the student's unique talents and needs.
