Comprehensive Assessment
In order to be as helpful as possible, an assessment must be thorough. Our goal is to provide a comprehensive look at a how a person is functioning cognitively, academically, socially, and emotionally. This would likely include assessing areas such as attention, visual and auditory processing, learning, memory, language, and fine motor skills.
These are some common steps in the process:
- We interview parents, teachers, and any other key people before starting testing.
- Standardized questionnaires will be given to parents, teachers, and other key people.
- We may visit your child's school to observe before the first testing appointment.
- Direct testing can take 6 or more hours, as many different abilities need to be assessed. This can be split up over two or more days.
- Tests are scored and interpreted.
- A meeting is scheduled with the parents to discuss the results of the testing and recommendations.
- Verbal feedback can be provided to teachers and other professionals.
- At the end of the assessment, we will provide a written report that documents the test results, conclusions, and recommendations.
- We will provide additional follow up as needed.
